    Description

Up for sale we have this classic WW11 WW2 BMB British despatch rider helmet made in
    1942
    in good condition..
    This is an
    early production helmet
    by the manufacturer
    BMB (Briggs motor bodies) .
At the start of the war despatch riders were ill equipped for their arduous and sometimes dangerous duty of high speed message delivery in often hostile environments.
Early despatch riders first used the wide rim British helmet which proved very unsuitable for motorcycle use ,many neck injuries during crashes led to the need for a suitable replacement.
The first solution was a paper Mache stop gap helmet , followed by this BMB manufactured helmet using the
    rimless British paratrooper helmet shell
which was married to a new liner , leather neck flap, front padding for stability. This new helmet proved very effective.
This helmet has some areas of paint loss ,some areas of soiling but is otherwise in good condition .
Please carefully inspect the pictures as these form part of the description . There are no dents noted of any consequence.
The felt ear covers are worn.
    These helmets
    are becoming scarce
as many examples of this type have been modified to British paratrooper helmets for re-enactment's etc.
This helmet is clearly marked for 1942 manufacture( see pics ). Size is 7 (22.4 inch)
    Condition is "Used".
    Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
    Thanks for looking.
